'Words' as symbols of speech are a more appropriate sign than any logo could ever be.

 

Approach The newly founded 'Deutsche Gesellschaft für Designtheorie und -forschung e.V.' demanded for a distinctive corporate design.

mok to proposed a typographic solution. After immersing into the self-perception of this intellectual club it became apparent that its members are at its very heart. Speech, proclamation and discussion are the weapons of choice.

To us, this called for a strong, but sophisticated typographical solution. The color is copper.

 

Solution The signet is made up from the names of the members. When a new member joins (s)he is added. Thus the signet grows organically - changing its shape.

The growth of the signet equals the growth of the club. The use of the signet is playful and consistent.

Of course, the corporate designs' application must be easy and preferably cost-aware.

So, one very large printing sheet is prepared in advance. It carries the club's name in big letters. It is cut into pieces according to the printing demand which is then executed on the back of the smaller pieces which carry parts of the name on their back.

This way the letters become ornamental. As a side effect the font's delicious details are accentuated.
